Planning Your Perfect Opening Day & Parade Day

Posted by Brianna Cloney on Mar 27, 2018 3:00:04 PM

UPDATE 3/28 - Due to rain, the Reds Opening Day game has been rescheduled to Friday, 3/30. Event information below updated. See the official press release for more details.

Since 1869, the Cincinnati Reds, originally Red Stockings, have been playing baseball and have quite an interesting history. As baseball’s first team of professionals, they finished their inaugural season with a perfect 57-0 record. The teams first ever loss in 1870 was to the Brooklyn Atlantic's in extra innings, falling 8-7.

The National League was established in 1876 with Cincinnati as a charter member until 1880, when the Red Stockings were kicked out of the league due to a refusal to stop selling beer during their games and stop renting out their ballpark on Sundays.

In 1881 the American Association was formed, where the reds would play their next eight seasons. On April 17. 1889, the Reds’ first Opening Day festivities occurred. There were decorations all around the ballpark, and the game was preceded by a concert by the Cincinnati Orchestra. In November of the same year, Cincinnati was granted re-admission to the National League and joined the other seven teams.

The first Opening Day parade took place on April 22, 1891, and was organized by team owner John T. Brush. The parade was made up of Webber’s military band and the Reds and their opponents, the Cleveland Spiders, pulled by two horse-drawn wagons.

Now 127 years later, the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day festivities have grown into something that original team could never have imagined. A celebration of epic proportions. This year is a little different, with the Opening Day game and parade taking place on different days, simply meaning there are two days of celebrations.

Proud to be your Neighbor: Cincinnati Bell 2018 Super Bowl Commercial

Posted by Brianna Cloney on Feb 8, 2018 2:00:01 PM

Cincinnati has been a place to call home since 1788. The land was originally called Losantiville until 1790 when Arthur St. Clair, the first governor of the Northwest Territory, renamed the land. Now, we have been calling Cincinnati home for nearly two hundred and thirty years.

Cincinnati Bell has been connecting the Greater Cincinnati community to one another and the rest of the world since 1873. We are proud to be your hometown provider and your neighbor. That’s why we were excited to premiere our latest commercial during halftime of Super Bowl 52.

Over the past two centuries, Cincinnati has developed its own identity. Our goal with this commercial was to show our love for Cincinnati and the surrounding neighborhoods by highlighting some awesome landmarks that give Cincinnati its unique character alongside Cincinnati Bell employees who live in those places – your very own neighbors.
