      10 Top Parks to Visit within 2 Hours of Cincinnati

      Feeling a little cabin-fever? Sometimes even all the technology and gadgets in the world can’t solve that. Luckily, Cincinnati is surrounded by great parks, trails, and camping sites to get you out of your house, away from your devices, and into the fresh air. 

       Check out these 10 nature spots - all only 2 hours or less away from Downtown Cincinnati:

      1. Miami Whitewater Forest- Only 25 minutes away, Miami Whitewater is a huge park in Ohio that is perfect for golfing, kayaking, biking, and picnicking. Enjoy a long walk or bike ride on its popular 7.8 mile ‘Shaker Trace Trail’.
      2. Natural Bridge State Resort Park- Make the most of your trip to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky with Natural Bridge cabin rentals, about 2 hours away. Natural Bridge has ten hiking trails ranging from 1.5 to 7.5 miles, but if you’re wanting to relax a bit more, take a ride on the sky lift instead!
      3. Rising Sun- Enjoy this fun camping getaway in Indiana -50 minutes from downtown Cincinnati and only minutes from the Rising Star Casino. Stay entertained with fishing at the pond, basketball, swimming, or miniature golf.
      4. AJ Jolly Park- Go camping in Kentucky only 35 minutes away! If you’re ready to be active, this 1000-acre park is for you. It includes a Frisbee golf course, 4 baseball fields, sand volleyball, pickle ball, and much more.
      5. Big Bone Lick State Park- Only 40 minutes away sits one of Kentucky’s most unique parks. Stay in one of its 62 campsites while hiking one of its 5 trails. Try out birding and orienteering here, too!
      6. Versailles State Park- Take an hour drive to Indiana’s second-largest state park, an area with history rooted in both the Civil War and the Civilian Conservation Corps. Fish or canoe in the lake, ride on the mountain bike trails, or ride horses for more than 20 miles of horse trails.
      7. East Fork State Park- East Fork region has beautiful hill country scenery and is noted for its prairie habitats. With 416 sites, this is one of the largest camping areas in the state- only 40 minutes away in Ohio.
      8. Cincinnati Nature Center- There is so much to do for adults, kids, and families at this nature center in Milford, Ohio. Less than 30 minutes from Downtown Cincinnati, you can take a Full Moon Walk or Wildflower Stroll.
      9. RiverScape MetroParks- This popular park in Dayton, Ohio runs along the Great Miami River amid Downtown Dayton. With floral paintings and landscaped gardens, Riverscape hosts many community events, like ice skating.
      10. Clifty Falls State Park- About an hour and a half away, this Indiana park is known for its trails full of beautiful waterfalls- like the image below! ‘Clifty Canyon’ offers exciting year-round hiking and scenery.

      As critical as technology can be to elevating connections, we recognize that an important part of staying connected also means taking time to "unplug". Whether it's taking a quick hour-long trip to walk, or having a weekend camping getaway, local parks are a great way to unplug.
